September 7th 2006:

Departure at long last!!!

It's a go!!!
Hurray!!! Exit planting and enter our bikes! Seeing that our will to work was even worst than a clam trying to go upstream, we decided to stop working and enjoy the beautiful weather.

With close to 2000 km behind us in British Columbia, we're used to harsh mountain tracks and whatever they can bring us.

Right now we are enjoying our first evening on the road on top of Port-Albernie's mountain. Our closest neighbors are 100 feet hign cedar trees. You might not really understand our joy, but after three months of planting trees in horrible conditions, you'd be happy to see they actually managed to forget a few of them.

un camion d'eauTofino suffers from a water shortage? Not surprising, all the small rivers are completely dry

un peu de secheresseOne of the numerous trucks carrying water to Tofino. Everyone says it's an economical disaster... but not a word on the environment.
It's funny to see how many useless things one can carry when he or she travels around. This not being my first bike trip, I made ample provision of bungee cords... I could probably knit a shirt with the amount I have!
