September 20th 2006:

Thank you Oregon

Our cycling track with a magnificient view of the Pacific ocean
No need to wonder if kids actually like the camp
Sadly enough, we have only a single day left before we actually leave Oregon. With 330 miles already covered, it's time to say goodbye. While their northern neighbors urged us to be weary of them, Oregon inhabitants couldn't have been more curious and interesting. Everyone wanted to know were we were heading equipped like we were. BC, Chili and then back to Quebec. How long? A mere 2.5 years. Their reaction? Keep it up lads! The only hostile person we encountered was when we accidentally ventured on someone's property. He drove us off rather quickly as you can imagine. However, out of compassion, he was waiting for us 10 km down the highway with two very welcomed bottles of COLD water with an apology to bout.

We're currently in Golden Beach and we're hoping to be in Red Wood Forest by tomorrow. Oregon was a real pleasure to bike through. With wide shoulders, a great cycling map, polite drivers and 4$ hiker-biker campgrounds, it's really tough to go wrong here. The rain was our only challenge, but it let up after two days and the sun had been with us ever since.

Simon's got it in his head to rent a "Wife to clean". He even kept the phone number for when he gets back to Quebec.
Lynne's getting more and more used to biking these days. After all, nothing like a good 60 000 km to get in shape. As for me, the whole bee incident is still very present in my mind. I'll even say I'm growing a bit paranoid. I went so far as to banish honey from my diet in hope that it wouldn't provoke these nasty insects unnecessarily.

See you all later in California, home of some very nice palm trees!
