I can't help but feel like I'm in a cartoon with Road runner

Every sunset takes your breath away
Well it has been a week since we arrived in Mexico and we're finally starting to make ourselves at home. We have to admit that the beginning was stressful for both of us: no shoulder to bike on, Lynne doesn’t speak Spanish and I'm a bit rusty but getting through, the fear of running out of water in the desert between towns and the famous city of Tijuana known for it’s wrong doings. I wish you could have seen my face when I thought that 2 police officers were pointing their guns at me but when I got closer they were only pointing a radar gun in our direction. Time is letting everything settle in: people on the road are very courteous, and with villages and cities being 100km apart I had to add an extra 8L of water on B.O.B.-my trailer and Lynne is starting to understand Spanish.

Nightly fire with cactus as fuel... strange but it seems to work

It's Yogi Lynne
We have less than 800km before arriving in La Paz to take the ferry to Mazatlan to visit Lynne’s family. With the weather conditions being against us, instead of the wind in our back, a hurricane north of La Paz put a twist or should I say put the &%*$ wind in our faces, and pedaling in the desert when we don’t get ahead... is frustrating to say the least.

Our last load of laundry was at Los Angeles and we are finally doing a load today. It would be great to take a shower, but we can’t have any high hopes ‘cause we might only be disappointed. Since our arrival in Mexico we haven’t really met any people to host us, I have to admit that I speak better English than Spanish. Many of the people have said that the most hospitable people would be the Mexicans and than the Americans wouldn’t have any welcome for us. Honestly, in the United-States we had to turn down invitations ‘cause we had so many. I have to admit though that people here think we are rich traveling by bike and that most Americans high up above in their RVs think we are poor…Ah maybe it’s the fact that it’s been about 2 weeks since we last had a shower…now I understand!!!

Onward to Mazatlan!!! , for a couple of days of rest and the mountains of Baja seem behind us now. Quesadillas, quesadillas and more quesadillas any want a quesadilla…I swear that’s all they have here in Baja. Even when we do our groceries that’s all they have in the store: tortillas, cheese, refried beans and cilantro…but what are you going to do but eat it.

On this note please eat something else than quesadillas for us.
