July 31st 2006:
Ah
ah!
Who wants trees?
Our camp ground
Finally, instead of pedaling, we ended up 4 km north of Oliver for a
little "family planting"... in pots this time. As I write these lines,
we only have a single day's work left. What we had to do was simple.
Put the trees that would later be planted in pots and then we walked
around the seedbed to pick out weeds and cover the ground with sawdust.
The sunrise on the valley. Listen carefully and you'll hear the birds singing.
Let's work people!!!!
Lucky us, we were allowed to stay directly on the seedbed's grounds...
with all the commodities it had to offer... dry toilet, running water,
river nearby, camp near a scholar bus with a wonderful sight on some
really nasty bee nests, refrigerator with mold included and awakening
at the crack of dawn.
We were forced to leave work because of
the numerous forest fires that kept burning in Washington. It was
raining cinder and clouds of smoke caused us numerous respiratory
problems.
Homemade sushi... I mean tentmade sushi.
Lucky for us, the wind blew against us for only two days.
However, staying at the same place for a few days and so wonderfully
equipped allowed us to eat some really nice meals. That's a plus
because when I'll be alone, I know my food will consist mainly of some
quick-eaten wraps or something like this.
What's planned for the next
few days? Get everyone to Kelowna and visit a bit until the 15th of
August when they'll return to Quebec. From there, I should finally be
able to head south. However, if I find yet another planting contract,
I'll be forced to push back my departure yet again to make some more
money.
I hope I don't find anything... I'm really eager to go!!!
