April 22 nd 2007:

British Columbia

Heads I continue my journey in Central America and Tails I go back to Canada. Flip…flip…flip… tails… Damn my ego! My fears coming to the surface: Will Lynne come and meet me in Mexico in four months with enough money for us to continue our journey? Do I have enough money now for myself? So many fears that I could only leave it up to the colones (money currency from Costa Rica) and chance to decide for me.

Here I am half beaten up from the bike trip and glad to be born in North America to have the chance to travel and to decide on a flip of a coin to return home to work and then continue my travels.

Three days before this decision to join Lynne in B.C., my journey continued from the beach where we lived for four months. I plunged in head first into the Costa Rican culture and was welcomed with open arms. With an invitation, treated as a king in every home that embraced my presence as a traveler, I was welcome as one of their own. One thing we take for granted in North America: a human being. Fear or money seems to push us apart in North America, a contrast in Central America. Their families come first and from my hands on experience it seem like the entire world is their family.

Here we are, the both of us back together again, planting trees in the Monachee Mountain Range in B.C. We are over flowing with ideas as to where our next bike trip will be. Lessons be learnt: It is wise to plan before hand. Let’s not forget that Lynne decided to come with me at the last minute and that I was supporting her along the way. Those that have been following us might be a bit disappointed with the turn of events but don’t you worry, our butts will be back on the roads with another adventure soon enough.

We truly hope that this trip has inspired many of you readers and don’t be shy to hop on your bike for the best ride of your life that you will never forget or regret… I personally promise you that.
